About
For the Norwegian publisher of educational materials Salaby I've created a series of illustrations for five Polish tales. One of them tells the story of the Mermaid of Warsaw.
The plot
Once, there was a mermaid with a beautiful voice who got captured by a greedy man during her journey through seas and rivers. He wanted to lock her in a cage and tour the country with her, making people pay to admire her singing. Luckily, a compassionate fisherman set the creature free. In gratitude, the mermaid vowed to protect his city – Warszawa – forever.
