While working at AVIA Produksjon, we created three animations for the Red Cross which were presented during Tilbakeføringskonferansen Return Conference organized by the organization in 2022. I was responsible for creating the storyboard and all the illustrations for the films. See the animations here
The story
The audio included in the animations comes from original interviews conducted with children whose parents were imprisoned. With this project we wanted to let the words play the first role. I created not-so-detailed illustrations, with a very distinct atmosphere and a limited color palette, and animator Monika Edvardsen chose a very slow pace for all the animations. The goal was to give viewers a glimpse into how the children's lives changed before, during and after their fathers' stay in prison, and most importantly: to tell these stories from the their perspective.
